Europe

Explore God’s call on your life by serving with a grassroots ministry in Europe.

Cohort Europe is a year-long opportunity for young adults to live in community, serve in a grassroots ministry, engage in deep spiritual formation, and explore the complexities of cultural understanding and social justice. Cohort Europe offers service opportunities in three locations:

  • Berlin, Germany
  • Budapest, Hungary
  • Klaipeda, Lithuania

Berlin, Germany

Germany’s capital city is a bustling and vibrant metropolis teeming with those displaced from their home countries. Tens of thousands of refugees have found their way to Berlin. You’ll serve with the Berliner Stadtmission (Berlin City Mission), a more than 145-year-old Christian service organization, ministering with those who are often forgotten in the city—people who have come to the city as refugees, people who are homeless or economically poor, people with special needs, and more.

Budapest, Hungary

Spend a year in Budapest, Hungary, serving with the Reformed Church in Hungary. You’ll live in community with other volunteers and participate in the larger community of the church in the country. You’ll engage with local partners, local congregations, and your fellow volunteers while learning about Budapest, Hungary, and Eastern Europe and developing a contextualized understanding of Hungarian culture. Possible volunteer placements include refugee resettlement, congregational ministry, discipleship, church communications, and more.

Klaipėda, Lithuania

LCC International University, Resonate’s partner in Lithuania, welcomes students from more than 55 countries. LCC is a space of conflict transformation, Christian discipleship, and a higher education model that seeks to transform the mind, the heart, and hands of each and every student. While LCC is a Christian school, most students do not identify as Christian, or they only identify as Christian by name and have never experienced a personal relationship with Jesus. Serving with LCC, you’ll gain valuable experience sharing the gospel with a student population that represents diverse cultures and faith backgrounds. Opportunities to serve include discipleship programming, interfaith programming and dialogue, leading worship, campus coffee shop ministry, mentoring, and supporting other local service partners.

How You’ll Serve

You’ll partner with one of our ministry partners serving the local community. What you do will depend on your interests, skills, and experience in one of the following areas:

  • Church communications
  • Church planting
  • Congregational ministry
  • Discipleship
  • Homelessness ministry
  • Interfaith dialogue and programming
  • Language learning
  • Mentorship
  • Worship leadership
  • Refugee resettlement

Your Cohort Community

Community is an important aspect of serving with Cohort Europe. In addition to forming relationships with people in the local community and ministries where you’re serving, you’ll also be part of a cohort of volunteers working throughout Europe. You’ll learn with and from one another as you join together in regular conversations about faith, culture, ministry, and social justice. You’ll also visit one another, so you’ll have an opportunity to learn more about ministry in unique contexts.

How We’ll Support You

We’ll support you every step of the process, from building a prayer and support network for fundraising, to finding a service placement and housing, to coordinating travel, and more. During your service, we’ll pair you with an experienced mentor who will guide you through a year of growth and exploration as you navigate your own vocation and role in the city and beyond.
