Vision and Mission

Nigeria is a strategic country for missions in Africa. With a population of more than 150 million, Nigeria is by far the most populous nation in Africa. With its immense population also comes broad diversity. It is estimated that there are over 400 ethnic groups within Nigeria – each with its own language and culture.  Spiritual beliefs are highly regarded and influential in Nigerian life. Both Christianity and Islam are firmly rooted in the fabric of the Nigerian culture.  Statistics show that the country is about equally divided between the two religions, with a strong presence of African Traditional Religion as well. Resonate works with three national partner denominations in Nigeria: the Christian Reformed Church, Nigeria (CRC-N), the Reformed Church of Christ for Nations (RCCN), and the Universal Reformed Christian Church (NKST).

Resonate’s work in Nigeria is focused on three main areas:

  1. Evangelism & Discipleship: Resonate works closely with national churches and partner organizations to provide training and mentoring, and to work jointly on various mission/evangelism/outreach programs.
  2. Christian Education – Resonate is walking alongside Nigerian elementary and secondary schools.  Through workshops and mentoring, Resonate is encouraging and challenging Nigerian schools and associations to focus on the core foundations of Christian education, investigate what it means to be a Christian teacher and see the student as a child of God.
  3. Leadership Development – Resonate is supporting the Bible Schools and Seminaries of its partner churches as well as assisting with Timothy Leadership Training for various churches and organizations.

Mission Work

Mike serves as the Team Leader for Resonate Global Mission in Nigeria as well as an Advisor to the Missions Department of the Christian Reformed Church, Nigeria and as the liaison between Resonate and its partner churches in Nigeria.  Mike acts as a resource for organizations and national churches in their outreach efforts as well as teaching courses and workshops on missions that encourage and train Nigerian missionaries, pastors, evangelists, and church leaders.
