Vision

We believe that everyone has a right to worship God in the language that best speaks to them.  We serve in a unique role to help make that a reality among the Mixe people of Oaxaca, Mexico.

Mission

As partner missionaries with Resonate Global Mission serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators we support the completion of Bible translation projects, local language Scripture use, and language development among the Mixe people of Oaxaca, Mexico.

The need:

• Wycliffe has had linguists and translators serving among the Mixe people since the 1930s, and have completed New Testament translations for a few Mixe languages.  However, Wycliffe has not had a consistent presence among the Mixe since the 1990s.
• Language changes over time and Bible translation updates are periodically needed.  
• Sometimes existing translations are not being used by local communities and we need to understand why.  This could be due to literacy issues or maybe the community speaks a different language than the translation that they have access to.

With the vision of ensuring that the Mixe people are able to worship God in their preferred languages, our mission involves surveying outstanding linguistic and translations needs for the approximately eight Mixe languages of Mexico.  This involves, among other things, learning at least one Mixe language, and meeting with local pastors, town officials, teachers, and Mixe linguists to understand the need.  From there we can connect communities with existing resources, advise Wycliffe on recruiting needs, or assist with projects ourselves.
