About Ryan and Jody

Vision

God is calling His children from every tribe, tongue, and nation, that they may know His saving love and grace, and praise Him, as Psalm 86:9 describes: "All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name." Across Africa, as the church continues to grow, this vision is becoming a reality! Unfortunately, however, the African church is often under-resourced. Churches lack pastors, and pastors lack theological education.

The seminary training Ryan received in North America was invaluable during 14 years of pastoring a church in Iowa. God is now calling us to faithfully serve Him by serving and sharing with our brothers and sisters in southern Africa.

Our vision is to help strengthen the African church, and to equip its pastors and leaders with a solid biblical- theological foundation for their mission in a lost and broken world so loved by God. As a family, we look forward to the ways we will answer God’s call to be a light in this particular part of His world: some ways new and different, and some familiar, as we serve our neighbors and encourage each other in the faith as part of the worldwide body of Christ.

Mission Work

Ryan teaches in the theology department at Justo Mwale University. Begun as a seminary of the Reformed Church in Zambia, Justo Mwale now served several Reformed and Presbyterian denominations in southern Africa with students from Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, and South Africa. Teaching in the school’s traditional four-year seminary program, Ryan will equip local church pastors for important mission work in their communities. Ryan will also help build the capacity of the African church to provide solid theological education through supervision of graduate students who will teach in Bible colleges and seminaries throughout southern Africa. In this work, he seeks to obey Paul’s instruction to Timothy: “The things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” (2 Tim. 2:2)
