Rebekah Shultes

My Story

I have heard stories from the mission field all my life. As I’ve grown up and gone to school, explored my own passions and interests, my love for God and my desire to see Him magnified in my life and the world has grown. I’ve been able to participate in short term missions a handful of times in high school and college, and now God has placed before me an opportunity to serve more long term in the mission field as part of Cohort Europe. 

I am excited to experience a new culture and explore a place rich in history and diversity while also discovering my gifts and where I am most effective for the work of God’s kingdom. God has a way of interrupting my own plans and ideas for my life in order to give me something better: His plan for my life. This will be a story of my learning to trust God’s ways, provision, and timing all while leaning on His love and grace. 

Mission

Cohort Europe offers a year-long missional experience in which participants serve in local European ministry organizations and connect with other Cohort Europe team members to learn together, support each other, and grow spiritually. 

I will serve with several local organizations ministering in Budapest. The Reformed Church of Hungary is the largest Protestant denomination in Hungary and has ministry to refugees. St. Columba’s Scottish Mission, an English-speaking congregation in Budapest has a variety of worship and discipleship activities. I will also be involved in campus ministry with Károli Gáspár University, the university operated by the Reformed Church in Hungary, with a growing number of international students. I am looking forward to the new people I will meet and growing in my ability to love others well.
