About Gary and Rachel

Vision and Mission

We desire for refugees and immigrants to know God, seek refuge in Him and be a part of a supportive community where they can feel loved and protected during this new stage in your lives. After years working with displaced communities in Guatemala that had lost everything to natural disasters we felt in our hearts God leading us to work with others that were in similar situations, such as refugees. He has opened doors for our family to minister in southern Spain and we hope that with our background studies and experience we can share the love of Christ to them. We are naming our ministry with refugees, Project Miklat which means “refuge and meeting” in Hebrew in the passage of Psalm 46. We chose the name Miklat to represent the refuge that is God for those who seek Him and as they find themselves in this situation as refugees they are able to feel loved and protected by a supportive community surrounding them.

Mission Work

Disciple refugee and immigrant families and help them discover their abilities and life purpose in Christ. Create a safe place where refugees and immigrants can receive spiritual, emotional and intellectual support. We will work together with a community center in the city of Malaga to offer social, emotional and spiritual support to refugees and immigrants who have recently arrived in Spain and are looking for a better life. Some of the programs we will be providing support in are: vocational school, computer lab and language courses. In addition, the we hope to connect families to local churches and help with discipleship and Bible studies in the community center.
