"One day at three o’clock in the afternoon, Peter and John were on their way into the temple for prayer meeting. At the same time …"  Acts 3:1 (The Message)

I have been reminded of this passage of Scripture so many times over this season of lockdown. It seems that Peter and John were doing what they did every day. They were engaging together and then found an opportunity in front of them. I believe that, much like Peter and John, we have found an opportunity in front of us.

Many of you are now in conversation that would take you back inside the doors of your church. For some of you, you’re wishing that all would go back to “normal.” (I have been reminded that “normal” is only a setting on a dryer.) Before you only plan for what will happen on the inside of your buildings, can I encourage you to continue looking for what is outside your door and how you might become engaged.

I have heard many stories over the last few months about how many have discovered what is outside their “normal” engagement. Making new friendships with neighbors, delivering flowers door to door, delivering ice cream to front line workers, lamenting with others, protesting, providing computers for those in need to continue education, gift cards for those in need of food, food collections, prayer groups designed around those in need, online Alpha courses and marriage courses, and the list goes on. I have a feeling that what has been said is, I am giving you what I have to share. May you be encouraged and may Jesus be part of our conversation.

Acts 3:8: “Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.”

As you step into discussion about what will happen next, remember ministry is on your doorstep.
