Join a team of people who have gathered from all over the world to minister to the needs of people fleeing danger and war.

The government-run Mavrovouni Refugee Camp is assisted by Eurorelief which is a Greek non-governmental organization founded on Christian values which seeks to support those who are suffering in crisis situations. This organization has been active on the island and in the refugee camps since the beginning of the refugee crisis in 2015. 

The volunteer will be available to undertake any tasks needing to be completed in the camp on a day to day basis. The daily shift starts at 8:30 and finishes around 5:00. The morning meeting will detail tasks for the volunteers for the day with preferences taken into account when possible.

Tasks and responsibilities may vary, but may include:

  • Member care
  • Food line
  • Social care
  • Distributions
  • Warehouse
  • Information point
  • Children's education and activities
  • New arrivals
  • Community engagement (women's center, men's center, skills area, library)
  • Maintenance and building projects
  • Volunteer office and administration
  • Attend the weekly dinner and Bible study
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Good working knowledge of English
  • A willing and cooperative heart
  • A flexible and patient spirit

Accommodation is assigned on a first come first served basis. It is advisable to apply 4-6 months in advance.
