Course Outline

During each training, three tracks are available for participants to enroll in, each one building on the preceding track. Each manual has been carefully written for use by pastors, evangelists, and lay leaders. 

Manual 1: Caring for God's People

Through the manual Caring for God's People, you will develop your ability to respond to God's call to care for others and your ability to interact with others on issues related to Christian faith and life. This manual will provide encouragement and guidance as you:

  • Interact with Scripture and your co-participants to better appreciate how God cares for us and our calling to do the same.
  • Evaluate and enhance your active listening skills.
  • Consider ways to engage in a ministry of comfort, guidance, healing and reconciliation with those around you, including your family.
  • Write and implement Kingdom-oriented action plans that are focused on good interaction and care for others.
  • Identify those in your church who you could train for this same ministry.
  • Facilitate a TLT lesson and receive feedback about this experience.

 

Manual 2: Christian Stewardship

Through the manual Christian Stewardship you will explore the material gifts God has entrusted to us and discover ways to use those gifts to honor God and be of service to others. This manual will provide encouragement and guidance as you:

  • Interact with Scripture and your co-participants to appreciate the material and temporal gifts that God gives us.
  • Become familiar with the "7 T's" of responsible Christian living.
  • Identify specific areas of engagement for the development of the material world.
  • Discover the principles and practice of joyful, generous giving in your personal and Church life.
  • Continue to write, review and accomplish Kingdom oriented action plans related to stewarding God's gifts.
  • Continue to develop your skills as a TLT facilitator and receive feedback on that ability.

 

Manual 3: From Harm to Honor in the Family

Through the manual From Harm to Honor in the Family you will become more aware of the reality of destructive family behavior and explore ways to resist and overcome this behavior. This manual will provide encouragement and guidance as you:

  • Interact with Scripture and your co-participants to better understand the value of each family member and our responsibility to honor each one.
  • Consider the effects of sin on family attitudes and behavior.
  • Identify positive attitudes and speech for overcoming harmful tendencies and actions in the family.
  • Explore five practical ways to overcome attitudes, words and deeds that cause harm in the family.
  • Identify obstacles you may encounter in your family, church or community as you engage in overcoming harmful practices and traditions.
  • Practice what is learned through Kingdom oriented action plans related to growing respect and honor in the family.
  • Continue to develop skills as a TLT facilitator and receive feedback on that ability.

Manual 4: Biblical Preaching

Through the Biblical Preaching manual you will explore the ministry of preaching and develop skills to engage in this ministry faithfully and effectively. This manual is intended to prevent errors in the interpretation of Scripture and to enable you to build up your listeners in the Christian faith. This manual will provide encouragement and guidance as you:

  • Interact with Scripture and your co-participants to better understand God's call to proclaim the Gospel message.
  • Become familiar with the "Three Keys of Biblical Preaching" and develop skills to 1) Choose an appropriate text for a biblical message. 2) Identify God's Good News in a text. 3) Cultivate attitudes and actions of gratitude, trust and obedience in the lives of listeners.
  • Differentiate three forms of organizing sermons and practice each form.
  • Practice what is learned through Kingdom oriented action plans related to preaching.
  • Continue to develop skills as a TLT facilitator and receive feedback on that ability.

Manual 5: Teaching the Christian Faith

Through the manual Teaching the Christian Faith you will explore the challenge of teaching in the church and develop skills to engage in this ministry faithfully and effectively. This manual will provide encouragement and guidance as you:

  • Interact with Scripture and your co-participants to understand the importance of the teaching ministry of the church and how it relates to different dimensions of the human being.
  • Become familiar with the four-step method to prepare a Bible lesson and develop skills to: 1) Find the theme of a biblical text. 2) Produce results related to knowledge, attitudes and actions. 3) Use activities to teach the faith. 4) Create a lesson plan for a Bible lesson.
  • Better understand the challenges related to teaching children, youth, and adults.
  • Practice what is learned through Kingdom oriented action plans related to teaching.
  • Continue to develop skills as a TLT facilitator and receive feedback on that ability.

Manual 6: Praising God in Work and Worship

Through the manual Praising God in Work and Worship you will explore how God calls his people to give glory and praise to him in all we do, every day of the week. This manual will provide encouragement and guidance as you:

  • Interact with Scripture and your co-participants to better understand God's call to work and to worship.
  • Evaluate your daily work and engage in it more effectively.
  • Become familiar with the six dimensions of public worship.
  • Develop your ability to evaluate and bring renewal to public worship.
  • Engage in disciplines to develop your personal faith life.
  • Practice what is learned through Kingdom oriented action plans related to work and public worship.
  • Continue to develop skills as a TLT facilitator and receive feedback on that ability.

Manual 7: God's Plan for Sustainable Development

Through the manual God's Plan for Sustainable Development you will explore some of the basic issues related to personal and social development. This manual will provide encouragement and guidance as you:

  • Interact with Scripture and your co-participants to better understand biblical teaching on sustainable development.
  • Become familiar with three important aspects of sustainable development.
  • Identify obstacles to sustainable development and ways to overcome them.
  • Develop your ability to promote sustainable development in the family, the church, and society.
  • Practice what is learned through Kingdom oriented action plans related to sustainable development.
  • Continue to develop skills as a TLT facilitator and receive feedback on that ability.
