In the summer of 1974, just after his sophomore year at Calvin College, Dan went on a Summer Training Session in Missions to Mexico. There, he taught VBS and preached his first message in Spanish. In the small fishing town of Champotón, Campeche, he experienced sickness and loneliness. Felipe and Angelica Santiago offered him hospitality and direction as to an eternal purpose. As Dan saw Filipe pedal his bike through the fields, going from hut to hut to share the Gospel, Dan recalled the verse about the fields being white unto harvest. It was then that he knew he needed to serve Christ among the Mexican people. Mission We have served in a variety of Mexican cities including a small southern Indian town (Palenque), a central megalopolis (Mexico City) and now a border city (Juarez). Our mission is to prepare hundreds of Mexican church leaders to be pastors, teachers, counselors, and evangelists. These biblically-oriented Mexican nationals will serve Christ and build His kingdom for decades to come... perhaps until the second coming. “The earth will be full of the knowledge of The Lord as the waters cover the sea.” (Is 11:9b). Ministry in Mexico Dan is a gifted teacher who designs his classes with students' individual capacities and needs in mind. He promotes reflection and integration of learning. His teaching credentials include a BA in Spanish language and culture, Master of Divinity, Master of Education, and Doctor of Ministry in Missions and Theology. He has pastored for five years and taught for over 20 years. Presently, Dan and Jeananne work in two seminaries, helping to prepare fifty people for ministry. Over the years, more than 200 students have graduated from All Nations Seminary and San Pablo Presbyterian Seminary. Many others have received training through the seminaries’ seminars and extension centers. Dan teaches subjects such as New Testament, Old Testament, Greek, Theology and Missions. He also counsels students, serves as academic dean, and preaches in churches. Jeananne administers three small bookstores which sell over 1,000 theology and ministry books to students every year at an affordable price. She heads up a discipleship program through Crossroads Bible Institute which touches the lives of hundreds Hispanic inmates in U.S. jails. Seminary students grade weekly Bible studies through the Crossroads program, discipling inmates through letters and the studies. Jeananne also teaches music and hymnody. We serve in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Graduates from the seminaries we work with serve throughout Mexico, from the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula to the top of Baja California. A former student is a missionary in Morocco and several others are asking the Lord to send them to other Muslim lands. The interdenominational All Nations Seminary (Todas Las Naciones) is located on a desert road several miles east of Juarez. Students in the basic program range from ages 18-25. This is an in-residence program. There are also three extension programs and a master’s degree program with pastors who attend modular classes. The San Pablo Presbyterian Seminary is located in the heart of Juarez and holds classes in the Renovación Presbyterian Church. The students are 20 to 40 years old and typically work during the day and study in the evening. When Dan and Jeananne first traveled to Mexico 28 years ago, the percentage of evangelical Christians in Mexico was 2.4%. Today, that number has risen to 5%. This growing church needs strong, solid biblical training in the full armor of God. Thank You We praise God for His work around the world and the privilege of serving Him. Stories September 18, 2018Equipped to PlantPastor Heber and his wife, Monica, studied at All Nations Seminary in their hometown of Juárez, Mexico—and learned from Resonate missionaries how to plant and organize churches according to God's design. After graduation, they moved to another city to work for a new church. But even though their ministry was in another city, God was working in surprising ways back in Juárez.
