At that time, I immersed myself in a Thailand study-abroad program for four months; my life has never been the same. As I returned home from that formative experience, I felt the Spirit fixing Thailand in my heart. I have grown to love the Thai people and have become fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in the Thai language. Initially, I worked with two organizations to stop the obscenity of human trafficking, giving hope and aid to those oppressed. I also spent a year at the Thai-Burma border, preparing young refugees for university. Currently, I am working with men with various disabilities, preparing them for independent living. In all of these endeavors, it is my aim to show the love of Christ to the marginalized people in Thailand. This has captured my whole being. Thailand is home. Mission In my continuing call to bring help and hope to Thai people who have been cast aside, I am working to empower disabled persons through comprehensive program effectiveness, impact, and excellence. In addition to modeling Christ-like love for a group of men with developmental disabilities, I strive to achieve real and lasting change in their daily lives by bringing them out of government-run homes and into an independent living situation. This will be achieved through the various programs I manage such as case management, social work, counseling, life skills, and job-skills training. To get better at what I do, I intend to learn more about best practices in working with people with disabilities, growing both professionally and spiritually.
