About Maria
My Story
Since I was a kid I have always enjoyed serving in the community of my church and being a part of the close community of my home town. In Venezuela, I learned how to enjoy life in simple ways, by being with people that I love, and by being fulfilled by their presence. This is one thing that God has been preparing in me for a long time: a desire to connect with people and share my life with them. When I moved to Germany I learned even more how important relationships are to my life but I also learned how difficult it can be to form and build relationships in a completely different culture. In this challenge, God has prepared more in me an ability to connect with others and to depend on assistance from Him in order to learn from the difficult things that I am faced with in my life.
Mission
Cohort Europe offers a year-long missional experience in which participants serve in local European ministry organizations and connect with other Cohort Europe team members to learn together, support each other, and grow spiritually. I will serve with the Berliner Stadtmision (Berlin City Mission), a more than 145-year-old Christian organization in Berlin, ministering primarily to those who are often forgotten in the city. In addition, the Stadtmission has more than 15 congregations throughout the city of Berlin, including the Welcome Church where I will primarily serve. I am excited to meet new people and to experience German culture.
