About Jessica

My Story

I serve alongside my parents, Rev. and Mrs. Jeong and Misook Gho, with the Reformed Churches in Japan. At a young age, my father dedicated his life to God and married my mother, telling her that he would become a missionary. Once, I felt dragged along. Now, I'm taking steps to honor my father’s footsteps as I discern God’s calling in my life. I’m looking forward to using my Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certification, musical training, and hospitality background to serve young people in Japan. Mental health has been a subject that has been skirted in Asian cultures, and the pressure to maintain face is strong. I believe that sharing the struggle in my life as well as God’s work will help provide room to share things that we all like to keep hidden but rot us from the inside out.

Mission

The focus of my work is evangelism and reconciliation with young people and children at four Reformed Churches in Japan through musical activities, English teaching, and Healing Café Ministry. There are very few Christian young people in Japan. They're struggling to maintain their identity as a Christian. The Healing Café will be a space to share or to relax because we all have experienced questions about our identity. As the youth grow, they can join other other leadership ministries my parents are involved in, such as Coffee Break and Timothy Leadership Training.
